ASSOCIATION
OF GREEK FILM PRODUCERS–DIRECTORS
Welcome
The
Association of Greek Film Producers–Directors was founded in
1991 under the name Association of Greek Cinema Directors. In 1994
it changed its name to Association of Greek Film Producers – Directors.
Well-known
film directors like Michael Cacoyannis, Theo Angelopoulos, Pantelis
Voulgaris, Nikos Panayotipoulos, Nikos Nicolaides, Nikos Koundouros,
Vassilis Vafeas and Lakis Papastathis were some of its founder
members.
The
unforgotten director Tonia Marketaki was the first president of
the Association. Lakis Papastathis and Vassilis Vafeas were the
following presidents.
The
aims of the Association are:
To protect and promote the Greek cinematographic art in Greece
and abroad. To
protect the right of free expression for directors and producers. To
protect the moral, intellectual and professional interests
of its members as directors and producers
of the cinematographic product. To
secure the intervention of directors – producers against:
To
organize cultural events for the promotion of the Greek
cinematographic art. The Mediterranean Documentary
Festival is the most important
cultural event
organized by the Association
since 1998.
The
Association took the initiative to create the Collecting and
Administrating Society «HERMIAS» for the rights of Cinema Producers.
The
Association participates:
At the Consultative Council of the Cinema Sector of the Ministry of Culture
At the General Assembly of the Greek Film Centre
At the General Assembly of the Film Festival in Thessaloniki
The
minions of the Association are:

The Board of Examiners.
During its first meeting (January 23, 2008) the board decided that the alteration
of the articles of the Association is imperative. It was therefore
decided that within the next 60 days the General Assembly will
decide about the new articles and the proclamation for the election
of a new board according to the new articles of the Association.
